Why my blog and Why not you?!

This year I have done many things that lead up to the blog. First I decided it would be the year of me. That I would no longer let my bad back rule my life, that it was time to shift the extra weight that I had gained and I would find happiness and calm in my crazy city life. Let me explain how it all was kickstarted…

As you can see even when I was a little girl I was shouting out about wearing what you want! Even pigtails with matching blue ribbons and blue clogs! Because why not you?! lol!

My boss is very inspirational. She is a mom of 3, works a high level business role and also maintains a very healthy lifestyle (with some champagne in there as if it was all healthy it would be boring right Celine?). One day she decides that she needed to lose some kilos, believe me, she doesn’t, but I took a look at myself and thought I DO. So I joined her on the Weight Watchers journey. This was the springboard of the year of me. 3 dress sizes down and 20lbs lighter I am still on the road.

My bad back ruled my life off an on for over 15 years. As part of the year of me I wanted to take control of it and my strength. I made the best investment I have ever made in me and have a personal trainer that I see twice a week, Sam. He is a major motivator for my fitness (along with my husband Tom) and really was patient to help me understand my back, how I could take control of it and how I was going get stronger, fitter and feel better than ever! It has been just a year now. In the first session I couldn’t even do lunges, now I am lunging with core bags of 15kg and can squat with a 20kg dumbbell! My back at times was so bad that I couldn't even walk without pain so this really has been a MASSIVE achievement. I am honest when I say it really is the best thing I have done. When I am feeling my head is spinning from crazy city life there is no place better than the gym to get it all out. Thank you Sam for believing in my goals and for changing my back for the better. I am stronger, happier and also smaller! Bonus! So the year of me is still going strong(er!)! Get ready, as I am watching my husband train for his 3rd marathon I am thinking of training for a half. Tom you are an inspiration.

The Blog……Celine not only inspired me to start WW but she also inspired me to start the blog. She was the person who said “you really have lots of cool things to share, you should have blog”. We would often discuss how in our 40's we haven’t found many blogs that speak to us, that as young minded 40 somethings we want no limits thinking and top tips for looking and feeling great in a way that is ageless. So with this nudge By Gattogirl was created. I hope you find the no limits and top tips approach helpful and fun. We only have one life, so enjoy it in a way that is YOU, no limits and to the full, feeling great!  I don’t let my age determine decisions on what I do, wear or say! Loll! I often get told “I wish I could do that” or “You are so lucky” or “Only you could pull that outfit off” and I am here to say that at 46 or any age, you can do anything as long as you feel happy with it and believe in it. We create luck, I really believe it. And as for trying new clothes, makeup and anything else, why not you??????
