NYFW, the glamour to the gorilla of makeup

First off, I know I have the best job in the world with the best people. I must love it as I am there more than home. This includes times that I travel. My job has taken me to Dubai, Miami, NYC, Ibiza, Milan and more.
I love to travel and I love fashion week, when I can do both it is a win! This year I was again fortunate enough to attend the Tom Ford SS19 backstage and show. For my job I was there to get some rather glam ladies ready to attend the show and after party, I also wanted to capture the moments backstage and have my team feel that they are there too, and maybe some of you too!
It all starts off early in the morning as jet lag turns its cruel head. I am lucky if I can sleep in past 5am on the first day. This is ok though as there is nothing better than NYC early in the morning when there is no one around. The city does sleep a little and if you can catch it when it’s quiet and still its a dream.
This time around I was fortunate enough to get ready 3 ladies. 2 that I have worked with before in the magical town of Positano (how did I leave that off the list before?!) as well as very special wedding day in Florence last year. The other it was my first time meeting and I have to say that she was a total superstar. It is always a pleasure to work with women you love and respect so much for all the hustle and hard work they put into what they do and also for just being such awesome humans to be around. Thank you for making this time in NYC so memorable and fun!

This beaut is so much fun. I think that the Fins and the Canadians have a kinship beyond ice hockey, we bond over her love of shoes and my newly discovered obsession with Minna Parikka and food. Sandra you are so much fun and one day we will have a makeup date in Finland!
She is classic and also loves a statement, shoes, earrings or makeup. For her look this time we wanted a cranberry-esque smoky dramatic eye and a paired down lip. For skin it needs to be lawless and catch the light. This is what we used:

This lovely lady is such a gem. We first met in Positano and hit it off. Then I was the luckiest makeup artist in the world to be able to get her ready for her wedding last year. It was a magical time in Florence and it was so special to be a part of her big day. We also most recently went to Dubai as well! We always have so much fun. In true Brazilian style, she is full of life and super adventurous with her clothes and makeup. This time she wanted to have a modern smoky blue eye. Super chic and the perfect partner for the dress she was wearing.

Now this super cool chick was in NYC for her first fashion week. She has the dreamy job as Assistant Beauty Editor at Sunday Times Style and gets to experience all cool things beauty! Lucky duck! And lucky me to get to not only be with her backstage, at the show and after party, but I also had a chance to do some pre-show makeup for her It was a typical day when the traffic is so bad in the city that it took AGES to even move 2 blocks. So she graciously accepted my apology for running late and let me do her makeup in the taxi on route. Lots of ladies love to get ready on public transport and this would be slightly more private, but a little gorilla and I loved the idea of it. So we did the eyes at the hotel and a kit for the taxi. This is slightly more unorthodox as I took what I would call a reduced kit for the car as it had to fit into Phoebe’s bag! Her look was all glow and California beach babe luxe with a NYC twist.
