Winterise your foundation

As the days get shorter and we are seeing less light, winter is on the horizon. Central heating, cold air and wind can take a toll on how your skin feels and looks. As you change to your winter clothing wardrobe its the sign to look at your foundation too. As a general rule with less sun and heat our skin gets drier and needs more moisture and hydration. Lets look at what foundations are my go to choices for winter. I am going for skin care benefits and great textures. In this photoI am wearing the La Mer Luminous Finish Cushion Compact SPF 20 and it is the bees knees!

Bobbi Brown SPF 25 Tinted Moisturising Balm This super balm is a dream for dry skin. It offers a light to medium coverage with the best glow and comfort on the skin. I still use a moisturiser under it, I like the La Mer Gel Cream, but if you are more balanced you might not even need one under this, especially if you are using a primer. Have I mentioned how great this balm smells? It is a dream. Also it comes in a non tint for those of you who love this smell and texture want that option to use it with foundation on top. Win!

The La Mer Luminous Lifting Cushion Compact SPF20 This is a true skin care miracle in a foundation. They have invested in the smooth as silk texture and finish on this little gem, not to mention that it also contains the patented miracle broth from the classic La Mer skincare where it all began. I love that you can build the coverage from light to medium and the finish is a true skin luminosity. You need to have this luminosity in your foundation for the winter as your skin lacks it. Apply over your primer/moisturiser.

Tom Ford Beauty Traceless Foundation SPF 15 out of my three picks this is the sheerest coverage but I do have to say that it gives the most incredibly dewy finish and this is why I am including it. It also has 2 skin care complexes in it to offer moisturising and hydrating benefits. I love how smooth this makes my skin look and when I am feeling like less is best this is my go to. It is like a liquid soft filter. If you need more coverage you can layer the Traceless Foundation Stick on top in the areas you want.
